Meningitis Vaccination Advice

Vaccination Schedule: Children (up to 2 years)

  • Born before Sept 2015: given Men C vaccination along with childhood vaccinations
  • Born after Sept 2015: given Men B vaccination along with childhood vaccinations

We would advise you to check your 'red book' to check if up-to-date with vaccinations or you can check with your Health Visitor.

If childhood vaccinations have been missed

  • Under 5 years: contact your health visitor to request a vaccination
  • Over 5 years: contact Northcote to request a referral to public health for a vaccination

Vaccination Schedule: S3 School year (aged 13 – 14 years)

  • All 13 – 14 year olds: will be offered a MenACWY vaccine at their school – This does not include Meningitis B
  • If vaccination is missed at school and still under 16 years old: you will be recalled in either the schools catch up clinic or during the following years vaccination programme.
  • If vaccination is missed and aged 16 – 25 years old: contact Northcote to request a referral to public health for a vaccination

The Meninigits B vaccination specifically is NOT currently available on NHS for anyone aged 2 years and over.
